The 20th of March marks World Oral Health Day and at YOTUEL, we wanted to take a look at the latest studies on the state of the teeth of those around us.
On this first occasion we focus on those over 65 years of age and the data is not good. According to the 2020 Oral Health Survey in Spain, 100% of adults over 65 years of age have some kind of caries.
In addition, of the totality, says the survey, only 21% of them receive adequate treatment and the average number of affected teeth per person is 15.
However, and as a positive fact, we can point out the decrease in the percentage of adults with periodontal disease in the last 25 years, where we have gone from 56% in 1993 to 34%.
Likewise, it is important to continue taking care of our mouth daily.
Habits to maintain good oral health
- Brush your teeth after every meal
- Use a toothbrush and toothpaste recommended by dentists. On this occasion he chooses to use YOTUEL Pharma b5.
- Maintain a balanced diet
- Visit your dentist regularly for check-ups
And it is that, according to the president of the General Council of Dentists of Spain, Dr. Óscar Castro Reino, some oral pathologies in adults are related to diabetes and cardiovascular, brain, respiratory and other diseases. So taking care of our mouth, he points out, following a healthy lifestyle and regular check-ups of our teeth, will allow us to enjoy better oral health and, in general, our most mature stage.
