March 20th is World Oral Health Day

El 20 de marzo, celebración del Día Mundial de la Salud Bucodental, se trata de una fecha internacional para conmemorar los beneficios de una boca sana y de promover hábitos saludables en salud oral, en todo el Mundo.

Oral health, an indispensable part of general health and well-being

Here is a date on which we internationally commemorate the benefits of having a healthy mouth and promoting proper oral health habits throughout the world.

The World Health Organization (WHO) highlights that neglect of oral health affects almost half of the world’s population.

The latest Report on the global situation of oral health, published on November 18, 2022 by the WHO, highlights the rapid increase in oral diseases.

The most frequent are dental caries, severe periodontitis, tooth loss and oral cancer. Untreated caries is the most prevalent condition worldwide and is estimated to affect 2.5 billion people. Severe periodontitis, one of the leading causes of total tooth loss, is estimated to affect one billion people worldwide. And each year about 380,000 new cases of oral cancer are diagnosed. The report shows that almost half of the world’s population (45%, that is, about 3.5 billion people) suffer from oral diseases.

The positive aspect of these figures is that, in general, oral diseases are preventable or can be treated at an early stage (WHO, 2020).

Therefore, because prevention is better than cure, from Yotuel we want to help spread the following message:

Health and well-being start in the mouth.
Oral Health is an indispensable part of general health and well-being.
