Without a doubt, the best way to maintain good dental health is to carry out an effective oral hygiene routine that goes through correct brushing, flossing and using mouthwash.
Eating a healthy varied diet, with a good supply of nutrients and minerals is also something that directly affects the health of our teeth, as well as fleeing from bad habits, such as smoking, abusing sugary and carbonated drinks or biting nail.
And, of course, perfect dental hygiene is easier to achieve if we have the help of experts and dentists, going to the annual reviews necessary to make sure everything is in order and see what processes we can improve, whether in the form of Brush your teeth or how to floss without risk of damaging the gums.
In the following post we tell you in detail the steps to follow to make your dental hygiene routine perfect and enjoy a healthy smile and to be proud of.
Step 1: tooth brushing
• At a minimum you should brush your teeth 2 times a day, when you wake up and before going to sleep. However, it is advisable to do so after each meal, so if you brush 3 times a day, it helps avoid the accumulation of tartar or bad breath.
• It is best to wait about 30 minutes after eating, before brushing your teeth. This is because during the meal the acids in food and beverages remain in the enamel, and it is not until after a while that saliva neutralizes the acidic content of tooth enamel.
• Use a soft bristle brush that goes smoothly to the back of the mouth. If your brush has a tongue cleaner it will be very useful to eliminate bacteria and prevent bad breath.
• Choose a toothpaste that protects your enamel from tooth erosion and decay, and do not overlook one composed of ingredients that help you eliminate bacterial plaque, tartar and reinforce your gums.
Our Yotuel Pharma B5 range meets all these requirements to become your ideal toothpaste, whether you are at home or out and about:
✔️ Anticaries. 100% fluoride. Rich in Xylitol.
✔️ Whitening toothpastes with the lowest abrasive index (36 RDA), with papain.
✔️ Eliminates bacterial plaque and tartar.
✔️ Enamel protector. With active natural enzymes.
✔️100% free from detergents.
✔️ Avoids dental hypersensitivity.
✔️ With VITAMIN B5: Anti-inflammatory effect.
✔️ Promotes healing and strengthens the gums.
• Use the correct brushing technique to remove as much plaque as possible. Use the brush at an angle of 45º with respect to the gums and move it back and forth in a circular motion along the front of the teeth. For the back of the teeth brush from the top down. Don’t forget to brush your tongue when you’re done with your teeth.
• The duration of brushing should be a minimum of 4 minutes, taking time to cover all areas of your mouth, both in the front and back.
• Replace your toothbrush every 3 or 4 months to ensure effective tooth brushing and the bristles are in good condition.
Step 2: Flossing
• You should floss at least once a day, preferably before going to sleep and make sure it is of a suitable thickness for the space between your teeth.
• It is more effective if used before brushing, thus ensuring that the toothbrush cleans better in those areas where there were previously food particles.
• Use at least 45 cms and learn to use it correctly with the help of the recommendations we give you in the post “5 tips for flossing correctly”
Step 3: Mouthwash
• You can use mouthwash every time you brush your teeth as a final step in your routine, but also between each brushing to keep a fresh breath and keep oral bacteria at bay.
• Be sure to choose a mouthwash that fights bacterial plaque, repairs and strengthens the gums. Our Yotuel mouthwash is perfect, since it also has no biocides, alcohol or detergents.
Step 4: Reduce the intake of food and drinks harmful to your dental health
• Avoid sugar because it is very harmful to teeth, it aggravates tooth decay, and causes tooth decay.
• Beware of acidic foods and beverages, these wear down the enamel and are harmful to the teeth, since without enamel the teeth become more sensitive to heat and cold. If you are going to drink an acidic drink, use a biodegradable straw, you will take care of your enamel (and also of the planet.)
Step 5: Give up bad habits
• Smoking is a habit that is harmful to your dental health and aesthetic appearance: it produces bad breath, stains your teeth and increases the chances of developing cancer.
• Brushing teeth too hard or with hard brushes or not adapted to the needs of your mouth can also damage your enamel and gums. So check well how to use the brush and the hardness of the bristles.
• Clenching or grinding your teeth, if you do it while you sleep, you should go to the dentist to provide you with a solution, such as a dental splint. Not only will you take care of your teeth, but you will also rest better.
• Biting your nails, using your teeth to cut tape, opening a bag or any other type of bottle is very harmful to your teeth. Moreover, you could even lose a tooth or be more prone to wounds or mouth infections.
Step 6: Visit your dentist regularly
• Get a professional cleaning done at least once a year. This way you will be able to eliminate the accumulation of plaque and tartar that you cannot remove with brushing and flossing.
• Perform a dental exam to determine if you have cavities or any other problem, such as the need for orthodontics or to use protection against bruxism.
• Visit your dentist any time you detect any abnormality such as red, swollen, bleeding, or sensitive gums, tooth sensitivity, bite changes, etc.
Going as soon as possible is important, otherwise a problems with easy solution can lead to more complex treatments, such as extractions.
